Happy belated New Years! I spent most of December dealing with health issues and then the beginning of January recovering from minor surgery. Now pretty much fully recovered I feel like my year is finally beginning.

I've been spending lots of time making things for around the house, like this rug that I finally finished. I had been working on it on and off for about a year now. It's perfect under our feet for the arrival of this cold weather we've been having.

Happy Saturday.

We've been gearing up for fall and winter and have been trying to soak up the sunny days when they present themselves.

M. made some Grittibänz this weekend, wonderful little bread rolls.

I've been taking over M.'s studio lately, because it's been getting harder and harder to keep my projects out of little curious hands. Plus it is a wonderfully spacious and quiet place to be. No internet to distract me! I am thinking of permanently moving my sewing machine there as well. It would definitely improve my productivity.

Patterns and colour are popping up in our home and in my own projects lately. I'll post some photos as I finish projects up... hopefully in the coming weeks. I am full of ideas these days. I just hope that I can eke out some time to bring them to fruition.

Happy Monday.

Hi! I'm still here and have been in the process of reorganizing my life and my schedule. I'm hoping to have more time this summer to post. I've just been spending a lot of time making things and spending time with friends and family, and haven't put much effort into documenting these things... which is how it should be sometimes.

Have a lovely start to the week!

Little bits of colour are creeping back into our lives here. I'm looking forward to all the changes to come in 2013. I love the clean slate that the new year brings.

The past year has been a really great year of change and transition and we're looking forward to much more transitioning and settling to come. Some of our wonderful friends in Berlin will be moving on and leaving the city in the coming months. We're sad to see you go, but we're excited to keep in touch and spend time with you all in your new homes. We've been really lucky to have such a great, supportive network of friends here... a make shift family creating a home away from home for us.

I wish you all a great start to the new year and hope that you are all lucky enough, like we are, to be living your lives as you wish... doing things that simply make you happy.

Happy Tuesday and Happy New Year!

Ps. I'm reading a wonderful book right now; The Craftsman by Richard Sennett.  A recommendation for makers of all things concrete and abstract.

Pure inspiration.

I came across Donna Wilson's work through Cut last week. You can follow Donna's work through her blog.

Her style is so indescribably fun. I can't put into words what I thought when I first saw the sheer array of work she produces. I find the colour amazing inspiring... and the range of styles amazing. Somehow everything just fits together.

Normally I would like to link to certain products that I dream of owning... but who could choose just a few.

Happy Friday. It's the weekend!

It's arrived.

Ho hum. I'm bumming around the house today trying to stir up some motivation. To do what? Anything. Stuff that should get done when one has a day free to do anything one desires. I've found myself drinking copious amounts of tea and knitting for the past few hours. I've also been looking through my brand new issue of Lines and Shapes which arrived yesterday. One of my favourite artists in the edition is Takashi Iwasaki, who surprisingly enough lives in Winnipeg. I love that he works with so much colour... and embroidery!!

Over the past months we've been trying to introduce a bit more colour into our daily lives. Or at least into our apartment. It is a slow work in progress.

Tonight M. is having his ritual bi-weekly film night... Soiree Noire. We're screening Orson Welles', A Touch of Evil and I'm baking an apple pie. Off to the supermarket.

Happy Wednesday.

Ps. friends of ours in Vancouver announced the birth of their healthy little boy a few days ago!! Congratulations Adam and Leanne. If you're reading this... I can't wait to see some photos!
