Here I am again, after a long pause. I've been wanting to post for weeks now, but have had trouble finding the time lately. Things are crazy busy around our household and there are no signs of our lives slowing down. I just need to learn how to balance everything better.

After taking two months off work this summer I've started working again, and volunteering, and I'm still trying to socialize regularly and have time for family while trying to crank out as much handmade stuff as I can. I've been feeling very overwhelmed and am hoping that I'll find my rhythm soon so that it all falls into place effortlessly. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm not willing to cut anything from my list of things to do. The result is that the blogging falls by the wayside. I'm hoping that I'll also find a way to fit this into the routine and post at least once or twice a week on a regular basis.

I've been knitting in full force lately and hope to have a couple of sweaters finished before the really cold weather hits in December. We've been holding off putting our heat on, I think, mostly because we're in denial that winter is on its way. Even more reason to add some new sweaters to the wardrobe.

Our lovely friends at The Wardens Today did a very sweet post about me a few weeks back. I wish that I was on top of it to thank them earlier!

I've been knitting and sewing up a storm lately... so much so, that I haven't had the energy to do any blog posts. I'm getting ready for the upcoming fall/winter season, and have been trying over the past couple of years, to buy as little new clothing as possible, and to make as much as possible. I guess like many crafters out there, I have an enormous stash of wool and fabrics that I want to start whittling down. This was the impetus for this personal challenge of mine. I'm happy to say that I've managed to only purchase 7 new pieces of clothing and two pairs of shoes this year.  I don't know how to gauge this though... what do most people buy in a year?

On a sad note, one of our very dear friends is leaving Berlin tomorrow for bigger and better opportunities, and she will be sadly missed. I'm looking forward to your first visit back B, I hope that it's before the year's end!

* Which reminds me... M has an artist book at the Reading Room, a totally separate project in Berlin, run by two artists here. I also want to check this out sometime... any takers?

I've had a bit of an unplanned break in the blogging lately. Really I've been spending my spare moments concentrating on some knitting projects. I'm working on a few things that are taking me FOREVER... mostly because I haven't knit in such a small gauge before. A friend and I also experimented last weekend dyeing cotton and wool with onion skins!

I'm also in the process of making some more big changes in my life, mostly in the professional sense. I'm hoping to have much much more time this summer for all of my projects and more regular blogging!

It's been busy yet quiet around here. We're slowly getting ready for the holidays and have a lot of making on the go. I spent the better part of Sunday baking cookies with some friends. I pulled out M's copy of Tiptopf and picked out a few swiss classics to try out, like Spitzbuben and Mailänderli. Aside from all the holiday cheer around, the days are getting darker, I always find it difficult adjusting... missing Canada where there is already periodic bouts of snow, with it's warm sunny reflection!

The dark cold evenings give me a good excuse to stay in and get cozy with one of about a million projects that I have going on. I'm attempting to knit a Christmas dress for P from this great book that M found for me at a flea market awhile back. I've been working on a couple of Christmas presents and have just been doing some repair work on a few favourite but hopelessly worn out pieces of clothing.

I really want to go and see the Helen Mirra show at KW... anyone feel like joining me?!

New.

Hey everyone. We just got back from an extended trip to Canada. We were there for 6 whole weeks. Hence another serious break in posting. I just wanted to share with you some of the stuff that I've recently made. Baby stuff! I've found it super rewarding knitting baby clothes, they are so small so the project don't seem to take all that long to complete.

The baby quilt that she's lying on was my Father's when he was a baby. I can't believe what great shape it is in. I still can't figure out if those little animals on the quilt are cats or dogs. Any thoughts?

There are a couple of things happening in Berlin this week that we are planning to get out and see!

Plus we have some Toronto friends visiting over the weekend. I may get into some trouble. We'll see!

Sunday brunch during the week! We're trying to enjoy more of these while we can. A lovely friend gave us some homemade apple marzipan and almond jam. Mmmmm.

I'm so close to finishing off the knitted baby tights with feet in them. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result.

I can see some blue sky poking through the clouds today... maybe I'll even get out of the house before it gets dark out.

Winter sea.

We just got back from a relaxing break on the Baltic sea. I'm sure you're going to think that this is the only place that we travel to nowadays. It's just so easy to drive there from Berlin and no one can complain about the off-season rates!

If you're in Berlin tonight there's an event being put on by the reading room... and one of M.'s books will be a part of the exhibition.

Update on crafty things... I'm almost finished with the footed baby pants... accidentally knit a left foot on the right leg. I'm not sure if it matters though! I also bought this and this pattern. I just couldn't resist.
