I just can't stop experimenting with this loom.

Happy Tuesday!

I just recently started taking weaving classes and I'm learning some very helpful techniques to measure out the warp yarn and keep everything all orderly and tidy. It's all in German though so the proper terminology is missing from my English vocabulary. As impatient as I've been to get started (I've just finished setting up the loom to start weaving), I've been experimenting a little at home.

Happy Monday.

It has been very grey and rainy in Berlin the last few days. It's making me think of the wonderful fall weather we had over the past few months. Here are some photos from a few of our fall days when I found myself with a little time on my hands, and spent some of it in various cafes around the city.

Happy Thursday. I hope the sun is shining where you are.

pants etc.

As I've posted before, I've been working on making my own summer wardrobe, because I have the time and I have lots of fabric that I've been stockpiling over the years. Last week I finished my first pair of pants and I even figured out how to sew a fly and welt pockets! I followed a pattern out of a Burda magazine that I've had lying around for a while. So here are some photos of the pants and a tank top that I finished a few weeks ago. I'm happy with the tank top but would like to make a baggier version of it. Maybe I'll get started on it this weekend.

I have another interesting project idea involving old t-shirts that I'm hoping to get started by the weekend. Maybe I'll have some photos early next week.

Happy Thursday.

It's arrived.

Ho hum. I'm bumming around the house today trying to stir up some motivation. To do what? Anything. Stuff that should get done when one has a day free to do anything one desires. I've found myself drinking copious amounts of tea and knitting for the past few hours. I've also been looking through my brand new issue of Lines and Shapes which arrived yesterday. One of my favourite artists in the edition is Takashi Iwasaki, who surprisingly enough lives in Winnipeg. I love that he works with so much colour... and embroidery!!

Over the past months we've been trying to introduce a bit more colour into our daily lives. Or at least into our apartment. It is a slow work in progress.

Tonight M. is having his ritual bi-weekly film night... Soiree Noire. We're screening Orson Welles', A Touch of Evil and I'm baking an apple pie. Off to the supermarket.

Happy Wednesday.

Ps. friends of ours in Vancouver announced the birth of their healthy little boy a few days ago!! Congratulations Adam and Leanne. If you're reading this... I can't wait to see some photos!
